The Girls Beds Are Done…

…and they’re long overdue!

My two youngest girls are 3 and 4 and room share. They’re STILL in toddler beds, primarily because we just haven’t had much time to concentrate on their room. Well, my hubby fixed that two Friday’s ago. We picked the girls up from school and treated them to frozen yogurt. There happened to be a mattress store next door, so hubs decided we should go check it out. Thirty minutes later and some of my NJ smooth talkin’ scored us two mattresses, box springs and free delivery! Did I mention delivery was scheduled for Friday night?! Yup, that sealed the deal and got my butt in gear to refinish the bed frames. I’ve had them for months now, but just felt a bit uninspired.

Our girls have really different personalities, so I really wanted their bedroom to be reflective of that. A few months ago, yes MONTHS, we went to HomeGoods to look around. I knew Annabella would go for pink and Evangeline would be all about the purple. I was totally right and honestly, I didn’t even bother trying to get them to choose matching sets. I decided I would just try to make what they chose work.

It was a big debate as to what color their beds should be painted. At one point I thought I’d paint them both white, then I decided to keep with the spirit of allowing ’em to have a say in the decision. I gave them each a few colors that worked with their bedding and let them choose.  This is what we wound up with!! We can’t wait to paint their rooms and change out the knobs on their furniture, but I’m thinking this isn’t too bad a start 🙂  PS, You’ll also notice that there are no boxsprings!  Yup, Mama decided to build slats instead!

Here are the beds before..

I hooked Evangeline’s bed up with Paint Couture!™ Brazilian Parrot.  It looks much more green in this photo than it actually is.  This cool Ikea picture will hang over her bed.

This picture is what the bed color actually looks like.

I tried to tie the look together by selecting sheets that were the color of Annabella’s bed frame.

…and here is Miss Bella’s new set up.  The bed frame color is Paint Couture!™ Barbados Blue St.Bart’s Blue (oops!!).

Her sheets are the color of Evangeline’s bed…

Just wanted to show a close up of the accent pillow.  My craptastic iPad didn’t photograph it well, but the coloration is spot on.
