What a difference a door makes

For the longest time I have sat in my family room, completely irritated over the the way glaring white pantry door sticks out like a sore thumb against our creamy kitchen cabinets. Yup, I know, first world problems and I’m lucky to have them for sure.  In a temporary moment of insanity I thought about painting it black. When we painted the walls this hot chocolate color, that option flew out the door with the quickness.

See!! ^^^^^^ Stark and against the massive white ceiling, even more stark!

Fast forward some to the adjoining family room.  In a decision made out of sheer frustration over the cave like feel in this poorly lit room, I painted small accent wall in Tidewater by Sherwin Williams to brighten it up. It did the trick, but I loved the wall color so much, I found myself looking at it all the time and what was in plain view…my blah pantry door.

Well, I took the bull by the horns, and no, I don’t mean Rocco who resides above the pantry! I went to SW, got a can of Tidewater pro classic semi gloss mixed up, got home and started painting. I’m so glad I decided to switch it up. Visually, it really connects the spaces and really added an element of warmth to the kitchen. Sorry for the cup in the picture. We live here 🙂
